Here's a conglomeration of what our Summer has been like so far. It's been dry, so we'll be luck if we don't burn out the pump from running it all day to soak the garden and try to keep the grass this side of a shade of taupe. We went camping up in Red Lodge (smores, hiking, playing in Rock Creek) there was the 4th of July (there is a stage II fire restriction, so no fireworks *sad face*) we took in Symphony in the Park and other summer odds and ends so far.

Our camping trip was just ahead of a Stage II fire ban, so we could still have a campfire within the fire ring at our campsite. The girls wanted to make S'mores. As we found out, it was more about roasting marshmallows, putting their flaming remains back into the fire, then eating a piece of chocolate. We attempted another hike near Cooke City, but it was too dang hot and we didn't bring enough water to make it all the way. It would have been a nice hike except for the swarm of mosquitoes and horse flies that would keep about an inch away from your skin, seemingly awaiting the bug spray to wear off just enough to attack. We played in Rock Creek, which abuts our campground site. The water was cooooooold, but in the mid-day heat, it was perfect to stick your feet in for a bit. The girls built little rock pyramids around the campsite (castles for their My Little Pony's) so I'm sure that will look odd to the next few people that camp there.
