Summer Cornucopia

Here is the Reader's Digest version of our Summer so far.

Parks, museums, concerts, library, baseball games, mowing, gardening, parades, and camping.
We'll start off with the 4th of July. Our neighborhood has a parade that starts one house to the south of us. The kids and adults make a loop around the neighborhood and end at the Middle School. This year we were joined by Mrs Loran (secretary at Apostles Lutheran, where the girls went to pre-school) who was in Casper to see her son play baseball and another couple from Cody, WY and their daughter whom Zoie invited to come to the parade when she randomly spoke with them at the Casper Municipal Band concert the night before. Later that afternoon we had a BBQ at a neighbors house then went to a Casper Cutthroat baseball game and watched the fireworks from the infield grass. It was a beautiful day.

Our neighborhood 4th of July parade.

Next year I think we need a float.

The parade ended at the Middle School where a water fight ensued.

Madison got doused.

Zoie with the cannon.

Daddy was the target of many water guns...

Later in July the Fair hits the town which is celebrated with Parade Day. With this year being an election year, there were many more candidates trolling the parade route, but it was still fun.
The start of the parade.
Looks like they are running from the law.

Only in Wyoming will you see a cowboy on a T-Rex.

Audrey sporting a new hat.

Later that day we took a drive up to Ayres Natural Bridge just for kicks. It is pretty amazing where the La Prele Creek has carved through some of the red rock and has made a bridge. The park has very well maintained playground equipment, covered patio areas with bbq pits, horseshoe pits and volleyball courts.
An old merry-go-round.

The girls found a couple boys to torture (Daddy, make it go faster!!)

Hitting the trail.

Zoie up on top of the bridge.

Audrey up on top.

and Madison.

All the girls!

We neglected to bring swimsuits, but who needs em?

splish splash.

Madison throwing stones.

Audrey wading.

Nice water gear...

Then there was our camping trip. We packed up and headed into the Shoshone National Forest and camped at Louis Lake. By happenstance our neighbors also were at Louis lake and they brought their canoes! We had a great time at the lake and we also explored a couple nearby towns, South Pass and Atlantic City. South Pass was at one time the 2nd largest city in Wyoming, when the gold became more scarce so did the residents. Now it is a historic site preserved by the State.
Brushing our teeth in the woods.

Campfire and cuties.

Just about ready to hit the sack.

Trying their luck at fishing (no luck was to be had).

Zer0 with his squeaky chicken toy.

Playing it the water.

Trying out the neighbors gold panning equipment.

Coming in from a quick trip out on the water. The girls loved their 1st canoe ride.

Playing with their trucks.

Daddy caught a fish!!

Here is Madison at South Pass City. Rather extraordinary that the 1st Female Justice of the Peace was right here in a rough and tumble mining town in Wyoming. There were so many fascinating stories that began, and ended in this town.

We're in the jailhouse now...

Love the population of South Pass City:
About 5 people
Approximately 4 dogs
Roughly 2 cats

and a Zero photobomb.
