Tribute to Opus

For those of you who had the pleasure of meeting our dog Opus you know that he was one of the most wonderful dogs you have ever met. He loved everyone.

He enjoyed playing ball, pushing around his hard plastic orange ball, hiking, car rides, fishing for rocks, playing in the snow and just hanging out.
He was part of our family for a little over 12 years.

We are not exactly sure what happened, but we think he had a stroke yesterday afternoon around 11:00 AM and never recovered. We lost Opus at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 28.

Here are some pictures of our beloved Opus.

Opus had the best smile.

We caught him napping.

Opus best imitation of the tree.

What, I wasn't doing anything!

Our Family Tree (Prior to having kids), this was taken Sept 03 at our house on Vermont.

Opus and Baxter sharing our bed.

He loved playing fetch so much that if he didn't have a ball he would improvise.
Like a pine cone or rock.

This was of the funniest things I have ever seen a dog do. Opus would fish for rocks. He would stick his head into the water and find any loose rocks (usually fairly large ones) and pull them out.

If he wasn't fishing out rocks we would toss a stick in the lake and he'd go for a swim.

It was amazing every time we were in the snow it was like Opus was 2 years old again. He just loved the stuff. You could toss him snow balls and he would bite them and be covered in snow. He loved to romp, play and eat snow.

We have puppy pictures but that was before the digital age. Plus their in storage and we don't have a scanner. He was a cute puppy from the day we got him. You would never know he was 12 years old. He had such a young and loving spirit and we miss him oh so dearly.
